Sara Perks holds a BA Hons in Drama & Theatre Studies and trained in Theatre Design at Bristol Old Vic Theatre School.

She was previously Head of Design for Shakespeare’s Rose Theatre (York and Blenheim), designing Macbeth, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Twelfth Night and Hamlet, as well as managing the design departments for 8 concurrent productions. She has also held the roles of Associate Artist at Mercury Theatre, Colchester (having designed over 35 shows there) and Associate Designer with English Touring Theatre.

She has designed over 275 productions to date for every type of venue and genre. Recent work includes: Mind Mangler (UK tour/West End, Mischief Theatre), Around the World in 80 Days (UK tour, York Theatre Royal/Tilted Wig), 71 Coltman Street (Hull Truck), Now Is Good (Storyhouse, Chester), Good Luck, Studio (Mischief Theatre/Mercury), Footloose! (International Tour, Selladoor), The Rise and Fall of Little Voice (UK tour, Aria).

She has been nominated for both Broadway World Awards (Set Design and Costume Design) and a WhatsOnStage Award (Set Design) for American Idiot, an Offie for Oranges and Elephants, and holds an Edinburgh Fringe First, The John Elvery Theatre Design Award, and a Vision Design (Costume) Award from the BBC.
